“Those who contemplate the beauty of earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”

– Rachel Carson

BIO
Christopher Hall specializes in landscapes. He photographs the natural world with an eye toward the play of light on water and sky. He sees the magical in the mundane. A wanderer, he takes up opportunities for composition as a gift, whether on a routine commute or on travel to Alaska, Hawaii, and throughout the Southwest. He watches for colors and contrasts on the backroads and waterways of New England and the South he calls home, as well as his native Michigan. Stepping softly in the woods and listening for fellow travellers, he waits for the moon. As a daily practice, he and his camera revisit familiar places at dawn and dusk to reveal the dynamic range of personality in our living Earth.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
For me, photography is a journey outside, which takes me on a
journey inside. When I travel outside, I look to my intuition to guide me. I
don’t always know what I’m going to photograph, but I know when I see the
subject. I set up the composition, set the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO,
aim my camera and shoot. When I press that shutter button, I feel it inside. I
know I ‘got it.’ What I hope to convey with my images is a sense of wonder,
connecting to the beauty of our natural world.
